Harvest Sunday Drama
Every September, Harvest is celebrated in England. This special time is set aside to give thanks to God for the harvest of food He has blessed us with in the previous year. It is also a time to consider our blessings here in the Western world as compared to those in the rest of the world. It is a time of challenge as we think about how to be better stewards of all that God has given us. This drama was written by Mitch to challenge the church to do just that!

Once long ago, when David was the king of Israel, Nathan the prophet came to see him. "Oh King", he said, "I have a story that I must tell you."
The story went something like this.
Once there was a wealthy man. (shows money) He had many sheep and cattle. (baas and moos)
There was also a poor man who had only one lamb. (baa) The poor man treated the lamb like his own child and cared for it. It even stayed in the house each night.
One day a guest came to visit the rich man. (guest comes) The rich man wanted to give a great feast for his visitor. But did he use one of his own sheep or cows? Oh, no. He took the poor man's lamb. (takes lamb) It was all that the poor man had but the rich man took it anyway.
King David shook his fist and said, "That rich man must pay for this!" But Nathan replied, "You are that man King David! You have wealth, power, and wives, YET you took another man's wife and had him killed. What will you do?", Nathan asked. (pointing) "WHAT WILL YOU DO?" David replied, "I will pray to the Lord; tell him I'm sorry and do what is right."
Well, that sort of thing doesn't happen today, or does it? The third world countries and their people outnumber the western countries about 10 to 1. (hold up signs, children name their third world country)
Today we celebrate harvest. Is all the food that is produced in our world distributed well? Of all the food that IS produced, about 10% goes to the third world, while about 90% goes to us in the western world. Is this fair? What will we do? WHAT WILL WE DO?
